| White Dolphin PowerBench | | | What Dr Lakomy thinks | | 'This bench is specifically designed to develop functional strength and power in swimmers. It should be used to complement water based endurance training, providing the stimulus for appropriate muscle adaptation. Based on the world reknowned Concept2 indoor rower it guarantees accuracy, precision and robustness. It features a unique bench which permits variable body roll, particularly appropriate for backstroke. Independant measurement of each arm provides information on functional imbalances.' Dr Henryk Lakomy, White Dolphin Technology |
| | Expert's Comment | | 'Of the many swim benches I have used the White Dolphin PowerBench is the most adaptable and functional piece of land based resistance equipment for swimming. Whether used for training or testing, it is an important feature of a swimmer’s programme. It offers a comfortable yet realistic body position, and the multiple adjustments allow progressive resistances, facilitating smooth and efficient strength training.' | | Description | ’The unique elevated foot position of the White Dolpin PowerBench allows for a more natural stroke.....enabling body roll on backstroke.’
Helen Slatter, Three time Great Britain Olympic Swimmer
The White Dolphin Power-Bench© couples the technology of the world's best rowing ergometer (Concept2) with a unique precision-engineered posture control bench. The bench is specifically designed to develop power and, consequently, the resistance felt by the swimmer is greater than that produced by the water. The unique bench allows the swimmer to adopt the streamlined position in the water. The adjustable roll mechanism, only found on this bench, enables the swimmer to roll naturally throughout the stroke. This bench is the only one specifically designed to allow back stroke.
The Power-Bench is not a swim bench, in so far as it does not attempt to mimic swimming dynamics. The higher resistance results in arm dynamics being altered, with limb velocities slightly slower than in swimming, with an increased rate of fatigue. The Power-Bench is used in short burst of power training either in a stand-alone mode or as part of a complex training sequence linking land with water training.

Each arm measured independantly
Variable, pre-set resistance is provided independently for each arm using a modified air-braked Concept2 ergometer. The quality and robustness of this system is universally recognised. Power is displayed for each arm, enabling imbalances to be determined and corrected. The automatic recalibrated of the flywheel every stroke ensures the highest possible level of accuracy and reproducibility, irrespective of the location of the PowerBench. |
Training and Testing Training with the PowerBench develops strength and power, in the muscles used in swimming. The standard accepted test protocols can be performed on this bench. |
Adjustable Resistance The PowerBench has 10 resistance settings, encompassing the full spectrum required. |
